WALTHAM, Mass. – Aug. 6, 2008 – Ounce Labs, the industry leader in enterprise security source code analysis, today announced that Gary Jackson has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Jackson brings to Ounce more than 25 years of executive leadership helping early-stage companies evolve and expand into market leaders.
“Ounce has built a reputation for reliability, and a trusted presence in the enterprise security source code analysis market, and today we count half of the top-20 companies in the world as our customers,” said Ounce Labs Founder and Chief Technology Officer Jack Danahy. “Moving forward, the company’s mission is to repeat this success across a rapidly expanding market. Gary Jackson is exactly the right CEO to accomplish this mission. We’ve always had the best technology for our customers; now we also have the best leadership for Ounce Labs as we expand.”
Jackson comes to Ounce from Quova, Inc., where he served as chief operating officer. Quova created the “IP intelligence” category of Internet infrastructure and Jackson played a key role in growing the company from inception to profitability. Among his accomplishments, he created international sales, marketing and customer service teams to serve thousands of companies in the areas of online fraud prevention, digital rights management and targeted marketing.
“Three key elements provide the foundation for a successful company – superior technology, broad market opportunity and a strong employee base. Ounce Labs hits on all three fronts, and that is why I chose to lead Ounce,” Jackson said. “In the coming months I will be working with our team to expand Ounce Labs’ global presence so more organizations can avoid data breaches and compliance violations by eliminating critical vulnerabilities in software.”
Earlier in his career, Jackson was president of Ozro, a pioneer in on-line contract negotiation, which has become a standard in enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications, as well as senior vice president of Vantive, one of the early leaders in the customer relationship management (CRM) market.
“On behalf of Ounce Labs’ board of directors and investors, I'm delighted to welcome Gary Jackson aboard at Ounce Labs,” said Tom Bogan, general partner at Ounce Labs investor Greylock Partners and board member of Ounce Labs. “We’re confident that his tremendous experience and track record of success will help further establish Ounce Labs as the enterprise security source code analysis leader.”
